Finally Some Sunshine!

Such a beautiful day as I was walking to class this morning! It has been a long and dreary type of week in Evansville, so seeing the sun out today was wonderful after all of the rain and cloudy days.

April Is (Probably Not Actually) The Cruelest Month

Considering it's April, I couldn't resist giving this blog post a title that gives a little nod to my favorite eccentric poet of yore, T.S. Eliot. This particular line comes from the wasteland, and claims that April, beautiful April, is the cruelest month because it sets the dormant things of the world back in motion.

However, I'm personally pretty darn happpy that the dormant things of the world are back in motion. I'm one of those dormant things--I just shut down when it gets cold, and this year's winter seemed to drag on long enough that it felt like a personal affront from mother nature.

Now that it's finally warm enough to be outside without it hurting, I've had the opporunity to reconnect with one of my favorite places on campus: the giant tree in front of Olmstead Hall.

Evansville...one-of-a-kind community

Now I didn't choose to attend UE because of the weather...if I had I'd be in warm and sunny place like Texas.  I didn't choose UE because of the bustling city - seeing as I'm from the Chicago suburbs - Evansville doesn't quite compare.  I chose UE because of the academic programs offered and the opportunities for career preparation.

A T-shirt For Haiti

Over the past week, in just about 100 hours the UE community donated 351 t-shirts to be sent to Haiti over spring break!  This was an incredible event and I was amazed throughout by the support of so many people across campus!

Classic Movie Wisdom for Evansville's Bipolar Weather

Brr! It's cold outside! Even though the high yesterday was a tropical 54 degrees, we are returning to the north pole today and tomorrow! When dealing with unpredictable weather, I always like to use some life lessons from my favorite movies.

SNOW DAY at UE!

Today, we all woke up to the wonderful news that all classes were cancelled due to the weather! Snow days at UE are very uncommon, given that the campus is relatively easy to walk around. However, the roads are dangerous today due to the ice that fell over the night.
