Tis the Season to be Jolly!

My favorite time of the year! I found a little Christmas Joy in the Evansville Walmart. :)

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

Thanksgiving is over, and we all know what that means—the Christmas season is officially underway! Christmas is a weird time on campus—after Thanksgiving break, there are only six class days left, and then finals week. Term papers come due, final projects need to be crammed in, graduate school applications finished, and yet, all I ever want to do is curl up on my couch with a mug of tea and read a book, and maybe rouse myself to go out to dinner or for drinks, to try and squeeze in a little more time with my friends before heading home for three weeks of freedom.

My Last Dishes for Wishes at UE

Serving

I had a great time this past weekend at my last Dishes for Wishes as a college student! We served hundreds of hungry college students, faculty, friends, and family! All of the proceeds go to a young boy's wish to go to Hawaii through the Make A Wish Foundation!

Prioritize Your Life!

If I haven't told y'all before, I love basketball. I love playing basketball, I love watching basketball, and late at night when I'm in bed, I'm typically thinking about basketball (or cake). I think one of the reasons I think I love basketball so much is because I had an awesome coach in high school. He is a man I have a great amount of respect for, and he taught me about way more than basketball.

5 Life Lessons I Learned from Marching Band

As I listened to my high school band director give one last pep talk before an important competition, I realized how many life lessons are learned from marching band.  This art and sport encompasses and fosters many aspects that can be applied to every area of life.  Not only does marching band exercise the mind and body, encourage friendships, cultivate creativity and expression, and provide students with an opportunity to grow as people, but its foundations and lessons make it an extremely valuable experience.  The following life lessons are crucial to a successful marching band and are definitely beneficial in life.  (And I haven’t even mentioned that it’s tons of fun!)
