Senior Recital

recital Ms. D

One of the most exciting and culminating points of a music major’s college career is her senior recital.  As I reported in a previous blog post, my original recital date of March 2 was snowed out!  I was finally able to perform on March 23, on a beautiful, sunny day.

Sunday Snow Day

This Sunday turned out quite a bit differently than I had planned.  Yesterday, I knew there was a chance that the weather would be bad, but I didn’t let myself fully believe it because 1) the weather forecast changed every few hours and 2) I wanted my senior violin recital to happen no matter what.   I had lots of family and friends planning on coming to hear me play, my dress rehearsal went smoothly on Friday, and I was completely prepared to perform.

Surrounded by Music

As a music major, I am often surrounded by music.  Actually, almost all of the time.  This week, however, I spent an even larger portion of my time involved with music, including a few performances.  It has been quite the week:

BALANCE.

The key word for me this semester is balance.  It's my senior year, and I want to fit it all in:  friends, fun, classes, my honors project, violin, music therapy practicums, homework, learning, EVERYTHING that makes college college!  Whew.  It's a lot and quite the challenge.  But I know that being healthy is more than just eating my veggies.  I try to balance my studying time, music practice, my social life, staying healthy physically, and my spiritual life.
