UE Celebrates International Education Week
Last week, UE celebrated International Education Week, which included student presentations about study abroad experiences, 30-minute language capsules, and my favorite--the International Bazaar.
The bazaar is one of the most popular events on campus each fall. Our international students (10% of UE's student population) spend a lot of time decorating and preparing food for us to sample. My favorite is the tres leches cake (seen below).
The "theme" this year was rice, and most food served were meant to be served with rice. Some of the countries reperesented included Brazil, China, South Korea, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and Syria. In fact, UE's 270 international students are from more than 50 countries!
The event and all of the events during International Week were also open to the community. For the first time, the bazaar was completely free to UE students (yay!) and Eykamp Hall was packed with people!
Above all, I think this was a time for American students and faculty to connect with and meet students from all over the world and learn about their culture. The food, of course, was an added bonus.
